Overview | hydrogenated rosin is one of the rosin-modified products. A product in which the conjugated double bond of abietic acid-type Resin acid in rosin is partially or completely saturated with hydrogen under a certain temperature and pressure as a catalyst. Rosin in which part of the double bonds are saturated with hydrogen is known as hydrogenated Rosin and contains 75% of dihydroabietic acid. Rosin in which all double bonds are saturated with hydrogen is called fully hydrogenated Rosin and contains 1-14% dihydroabietic acid and 66%-80% tetrahydroabietic acid. Hydrogenated Rosin color is not deeper than the first grade Rosin, softening point is not less than 71 ℃, acid value is not less than 160, mechanical impurity is not more than 0.03%, oxygen absorption is not more than 0.2%, abietic acid content is not more than 2.0%, dehydroabietic acid is not greater than 10.0%. |
preparation | rosin is added into an aluminum or copper pan, heated and melted to 180-220 °c, under stirring, a new nickel reduction catalyst is added, and the reaction is carried out by hydrogen gas, and the rosin acid can be reduced to dihydrogenated Rosin acid, at the same time, the partial dihydrogenated abietic acid may be reduced to saturated tetrahydroabietic acid. The product was filtered and vacuum distilled to obtain the final product. |
Application | hydrogenated rosin is an important modified rosin product with good antioxidant properties, low brittleness, high thermal stability, it is widely used in adhesives, synthetic rubber, coatings, ink, paper, electronics, food and other industrial sectors. |
Chemical composition | The main chemical composition of the acidic part of hydrogenated rosin is dihydroabietic acid resin acid (75.24%), it also contained small amounts of dihydropimaric acid/isopimaric acid type Resin acid (9.60%), tetrahydroabietic acid type Resin acid (11.09%) and dehydroabietic acid (3.29%); the total content of dihydroresin acid was 84.84%. As can be seen from the data in Table 1, the main chemical components of the acidic part are 13-dihydroabietic acid (35.24%), 8-dihydroabietic acid (21.27%), 13 β-tetrahydroabietic acid (10.22%), 13β-7-dihydroabietic acid (8.81%) and 8(14)-dihydropimaric acid (7.71%); since the acidic fraction is about 90% of the hydrogenated Rosin sample, they are also the major chemical component of the hydrogenated Rosin. |
Use | for rubber, food, medicine, electronics, paper, The fully hydrogenated Rosin Foral AX-E, manufactured by the US-based & American & Company, has a softening point of 81 degrees and is colorless, transparent and granular. Due to its high degree of hydrogenation, it is not easy to oxidize and change color when added to lead-free flux or solder paste, and is often used in high-grade flux solder paste, especially in lead-free environmental protection. At present, it is widely used in many well-known large companies at home and abroad. |
